From melodic ambient music to experimental noise,

From melodic ambient music to experimental noise, more North Texas musicians are creating music that emphasizes mood and texture over musical structure.

Many ambient and experimental musicians perform using a series of synthesizers and hardware with knobs, buttons and dozens of patch cables. They can be found playing in vacant hotel lobbies, contemporary art galleries and movie theaters. To them, it’s about finding the right spaces where art meets music.

A trio of Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra musicians

A trio of Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra musicians take the spotlight Saturday evening at Fort Worth's Bass Performance Hall. First, violist DJ Cheek performs Bruch’s Romance for viola and orchestra. Then, English horn player Tim Daniels stars in Sibelius’ tone poem ‘Swan of Tuonela’ and finally, trumpeter Kyle Sherman gives voice to Tartini’s Concerto in D Major.
